Description

Unlike thin and crispy Swedish pepparkakor cookies, mjuk pepparkaka is a soft cake with the familiar warm spices associated with Swedish Christmas baking.

Kungsörnen makes it wonderfully simple: just add butter and water, mix the batter and bake.

Each 420g package makes approximately 14 slices, giving you around 28 slices in total.

Classic Swedish Mjuk Pepparkaka

Just Add Butter & Water

For each package you need:

• 1 package Kungsörnen Pepparkaka Mix 420g
• 50g butter or margarine
• 225ml / 2.25dl water

For both packages together you would need:

• 100g butter or margarine
• 450ml / 4.5dl water

No additional flour, sugar, eggs or spices are needed.

How to Bake

For one package:

1. Preheat the oven to 175°C / 347°F.
2. Grease and breadcrumb a cake tin of approximately 1.5 litres.
3. Pour the entire package of cake mix into a bowl.
4. Add 225ml water and 50g melted or liquid butter or margarine.
5. Whisk for approximately 1 minute until smooth.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared tin.
7. Bake in the lower part of the oven for approximately 45 minutes.
8. Check with a cake tester before removing from the oven.

Allow the cake to rest briefly before turning it out of the tin.

Approximately 28 Slices in Total

Each package makes approximately 14 slices of soft gingerbread cake.
