Skogaholms Julvört Skivad 600g / 21.2 oz – Swedish Christmas Wort Bread with Raisins

Description

Soft, moist and full of traditional Swedish Christmas flavour, Skogaholms Julvört Skivad 600g / 21.2 oz is a classic sliced Swedish vörtbröd baked with raisins, barley wort and warming Christmas spices.

The bread combines wheat and rye with 5% raisins and 4% barley wort, together with the traditional flavours of cinnamon, bitter orange, cloves and ginger. The result is a soft, slightly sweet and richly spiced loaf that belongs naturally on the Swedish julbord.

Already sliced and ready to serve, it's perfect with Christmas ham, cheese, pâté or simply butter.

Net weight: 600g / 21.2 oz / 1.32 lb

A Classic Swedish Christmas Bread

Julvört is one of the breads most closely associated with Christmas in Sweden.

Its characteristic flavour comes from vört – wort from barley – combined with syrup and traditional Christmas spices. The bread has a darker colour, soft texture and gently sweet, malty flavour that makes it quite different from an everyday Swedish loaf.

Skogaholms' version also includes raisins, adding small pockets of sweetness throughout the bread.

Baked with 5% Raisins

This Julvört contains 5% raisins, giving the bread a traditional fruity sweetness.

The raisins complement the darker malt character of the wort and the warming spices without turning the bread into a sweet cake.

It's still very much a bread – just one made specifically for the Christmas table.

4% Barley Wort

The recipe contains 4% wort made from barley.

Wort is traditionally associated with Swedish vörtbröd and gives the bread its characteristic:

  • Malty flavour
  • Darker colour
  • Gentle sweetness
  • Distinctive Christmas character

Barley malt is also included to deepen the flavour further.

Traditional Swedish Christmas Spices

The bread is flavoured with a classic mixture of:

  • Cinnamon
  • Bitter orange
  • Cloves
  • Ginger

Together with syrup, raisins and barley wort, these spices create the unmistakable aroma associated with Swedish Christmas bread.

Perfect for the Swedish Julbord

Julvört is particularly good with savoury Christmas toppings.

Try it with:

  • Julskinka – Swedish Christmas ham
  • Mustard
  • Aged Swedish cheese
  • Blue cheese
  • Liver pâté
  • Butter
  • Christmas leftovers
  • Cheese and cucumber

A slice of Julvört with butter, julskinka and mustard is one of the simplest ways to make a sandwich taste like Swedish Christmas.

Already Sliced

Skogaholms Julvört comes pre-sliced, making it ready to serve straight from the package.

Use it for breakfast, evening fika, Christmas sandwiches or place the slices directly into the bread basket beside the julbord.

It is also excellent lightly toasted.
